It's an awful feeling. You put in hours of work and still didn't make the grade. Whether it means that you outright failed the course or just didn't receive the grade you expected, it can be quite frustrating. The truth is, it isn't the end of the world and there are definitely a few things that you can do to move from that state of mind that you're in. Not only that but you can start preparing to make a comeback in the next semester.
If it's the final grade, that usually means that there's nothing you can do about it. Accept that fact. Yes, it's unfair or you didn't prepare well enough but at this point you can't do anything about it. What you can do is focus on the things that you can change.
1. Start the upcoming semester with the right attitude and mindset. You can do this and you can do better. Irrespective of what others have said or what happened in the previous semester you must know that you have the ability to get an "A" or upgrade from a "C" to a "B" or an "A." Be optimistic and know that you have to believe in yourself and your dreams above everything and everyone else. You want this. You deserve it. Make it yours.
2. Organize your schedule well and set aside enough time to study. No matter how much you believe in yourself, if you don't put in the work, you can't accomplish your goals. Find a schedule that works for you and stick to it. Make no excuses because excuses often translate into poor grades.
3. Focus on the things that you can do each week to improve your grades. If week one doesn't go according to plan, then reassess and tackle week two a bit differently. Didn't like your peer assessment feedback? Remember point one and consider what you can do to improve. Consider each week to be a milestone in your 8 week journey.
4. Seek help when you need it and don't try to build Rome in a day. Seriously. It's a journey. For most people "A's" don't come overnight. Give yourself time to learn and grow. If you are improving then with each passing week or semester, the "A" gets easier to accomplish because you already have a go-to system in place that you trust. And if you're really good, you can almost predict your next "A."
Good luck to you this semester! Remember, to do well, you must prepare well.
